GE Vernova Inc. will supply eight 6MW-164m turbines to Prokon Regenerative Energien eG in Germany to repower a wind farm in Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. The order was booked in the second quarter of 2025, aligning with the company’s onshore wind strategy.
Gilan Sabatier, CCO of GE Vernova’s onshore wind business, highlighted the benefits of repowering sites to increase generation from existing wind farms and help Germany reach renewable energy goals. The company’s Salzbergen facility is well-positioned to meet domestic demand.
Prokon board member Katharina Beyer emphasized the reliability of GE Vernova turbines, leading to the selection for the Fleetmark project. Germany aims for 80% of electricity from renewables by 2030, making repowering older sites crucial to achieving this goal.
Following the Fleetmark deal, GE Vernova announced a partnership with Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board for a life extension and modernization project at the Dublin Bay power plant. This upgrade is expected to add 30 megawatts of power, supporting Irish homes and enabling hydrogen integration.
GEV shares were trading higher by 0.21% premarket at $629.96. The company’s recent projects in Germany and Ireland demonstrate its commitment to expanding its wind power footprint and supporting renewable energy goals.
