India plans to auction coal blocks for gasification projects, targeting 100 million tonnes of coal gasification in 5 years. Coal blocks will be auctioned under the commercial coal mining auction, with a Rs25bn request for proposal to allocate remaining funds for the project, totaling Rs85bn. Coal gasification aims to reduce reliance on imported products.
State-owned NTPC is set to appoint a consultant to identify overseas uranium mines after signing an agreement with UCIL. The consultant will advise on potential mine locations, with decisions on acquiring assets to follow. NTPC aims to secure raw materials for future nuclear projects, adding to its existing power generation capacity of 83,863MW.
