InPost S.A. has signed a commercial agreement with Bloq.it to deploy 20,000 smart lockers across Europe and made an investment in the startup. Bloq.it has other customers such as DHL eCommerce and Vinted Go. The lockers are set to expand to Italy, Portugal, and Spain. Bloq.it will manage InPost’s automated parcel machine network.
The Bloq.it NEXT smart lockers operate independently of power sources and feature a color screen and barcode/QR readers. Bloq.it also offers a cloud-based operating system for multiple locker providers. InPost installed its first automated parcel machine in Kraków in 2009, and now has over 88,000 out-of-home points in nine countries.
InPost handled over 1 billion parcels last year, with parcel volume growing 12% in the first quarter. In July, InPost acquired Spain-based courier Sending and plans to add 1,000 parcel lockers in Spain by 2025. Earlier this year, InPost acquired Yodel for $144 million, becoming the third-largest parcel operator in the UK.
