The Motor Ombudsman adds Leapmotor to New Car Code, making it the 50th manufacturer to commit to consumer protection. Leapmotor’s UK models now comply with nearly 100 requirements, covering 98% of new cars sold in the UK, including offering warranties in plain English and ensuring spare parts availability at launch.
Leapmotor’s addition to the Code emphasizes the value of accreditation for manufacturers, providing a foundation for best practices. Leapmotor sees this as a crucial step in building a positive presence among first-time owners and striving for excellence in all aspects of their operations.
Accreditation grants Leapmotor access to The Motor Ombudsman’s dispute resolution service, business advice line, training, and industry events. Leapmotor can display the Motor Ombudsman and CTSI logos in marketing and will be featured on the organization’s website. Their UK retail network, aiming for 80 sites by 2025, is already accredited under the Vehicle Sales Code for high standards in new and used car sales.
The Motor Ombudsman handled nearly 18,000 consumer contacts related to the New Car Code last year, with 1,900 additional cases taken on, a 22% increase from 2023. Common complaints included unclear warranty terms and policy coverage disputes. Leapmotor’s commitment to the Code aims to address these issues and provide a positive consumer experience.
