Simac Tanning Tech and Lineapelle are collaborating to strengthen the Made in Italy sector. Lineapelle attracted a global network of companies across the leather supply chain, with 1,150 firms from 109 countries presenting their fall 2026 collections. However, the number of visitors to the fair decreased compared to previous years.

Modern Meadow showcased its Bio-Vera material made from plant-based proteins, biopolymers, and post-consumer waste to emulate luxury leather. The company aims to create a viable alternative to leather that is cost-effective and environmentally friendly. They have the capability to produce over 500,000 square meters of this material annually.

Italian tanneries faced challenges in production and exports due to inflation, rising energy costs, and currency fluctuations. Revenue from the leather goods supply chain reached 4.1 billion euros in 2024, with inflation impacting research and development efforts. Eurostat reported a decline in European footwear and leather goods production.

Conceria del Chienti is streamlining the leather production process through waste reduction measures, offering pre-cut components to clients. The company aims to be a strategic partner in sustainability and efficiency, showcasing innovations to propel the sector forward. OBI Officina, a Florence-based firm, has joined the wave of consolidation in the industry. OBI Officina plans to invest 700,000 euros in digital enhancements post-acquisition, focusing on prototyping for luxury brands due to market changes. MinervaHub, supporting Italian manufacturers, houses 25 companies like Conceria Zuma Pelli Pregiate and LTM. LTM showcases a new data system measuring heel lifespan of 20 years at Lineapelle.

LTM’s CEO emphasizes the longevity of high-quality shoes like Christian Louboutins, underscoring sustainability. MinervaHub’s CEO stresses the importance of sharing values and know-how for success. Trend-wise, Lineapelle showcased embellished hides with layered materials and studs, reflecting the industry’s direction.
