Mitsubishi Power secures a $5.2bn contract for a 2.8GW gas turbine power plant in Taiwan. The project at Tung Hsiao Power Plant, to be completed by 2031, aims to enhance power supply and support Taiwan’s net-zero emissions goals by replacing older plants with new, efficient facilities.

The contract includes five units with M501JAC gas turbines, part of Taiwan’s strategy to meet growing electricity demand. Mitsubishi Power will supply the turbines, while CTCI Corporation will manage construction. The project aligns with Taiwan Power’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

The new power plant will be located next to existing GTCC facilities upgraded in a previous phase. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries plans to continue promoting efficient gas turbine technologies for energy decarbonization. This contract underscores the successful partnership between Mitsubishi Power, CTCI, and Taiwan Power, with a history of delivering projects on schedule.

In January, Mitsubishi Power completed the Hin Kong natural GTCC power plant in Thailand. The new project in Taiwan represents another milestone in the company’s commitment to supporting energy decarbonization efforts worldwide. The $5.2bn contract highlights Mitsubishi Power’s expertise in providing advanced power generation solutions.
