The Federal Reserve announced new capital levels for major banks after June stress tests. Morgan Stanley is seeking a lower stress capital buffer, with a decision expected by Sept. 30. The bank expects its CET1 requirement to drop to 12.6% from the current 13.5%. Morgan Stanley has the highest SCB at 6% but requested a downward adjustment. Other banks like Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo also saw revisions in their SCB for 2024. Over the past six months, Morgan Stanley’s shares have gained 16.5%. The bank currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
