Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare video game is now available on Microsoft’s Xbox One console. Paramount and Microsoft-owned Activision have partnered to create a live-action film based on the popular first-person shooter game, promising to honor its rich narrative and style. Call of Duty has sold over 500 million copies globally.
Paramount CEO David Ellison expressed his excitement for the project, stating that the opportunity to bring Call of Duty to the big screen is a dream come true for him as a lifelong fan of the franchise. The companies aim to deliver a cinematic experience that stays true to the brand’s legacy, which has dominated the U.S. video game market for 16 consecutive years.
This collaboration with Activision is part of a series of major announcements from Paramount, following their merger with Skydance. The studio recently signed The Duffer Brothers, creators of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” for a four-year deal encompassing feature films, television, and streaming projects. Additionally, Paramount acquired the U.S. rights to UFC in a $7.7 billion deal starting in 2026.
Ellison emphasized Paramount’s commitment to investing in high-quality storytelling and cutting-edge technology in order to shape the future of entertainment. This partnership with Activision to bring Call of Duty to the big screen is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
