PNC Financial announced plans to acquire FirstBank for $4.1 billion, expanding its presence in Colorado and Arizona. FirstBank, based in Colorado, operates 120 branches with $26 billion in assets. Stockholders owning 45.7% of FirstBank shares have approved the merger. PNC previously acquired BBVA’s U.S. operations during the pandemic. PNC is considered a super regional bank, significant in size but smaller than Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and JPMorgan Chase.
