Three automakers, Toyota, BYD, and Yamaha, now accept USDT payments in Bolivia, following a 630% increase in crypto transactions in the country. Bolivia’s Central Bank recorded $294 million in crypto payments in the first half of 2025, with stablecoin adoption on the rise. The expansion is supported by progressive policy reforms, positioning Bolivia among the top five crypto adopters in Latin America. Toyota previously explored blockchain and cryptocurrency projects, including plans for Ethereum-based systems and blockchain-based security token bonds. Latin America’s crypto adoption index grew from 53% to 63% year-over-year, solidifying the region as a rapidly expanding market capturing 9.1% of global cryptocurrency value.
