Yokogawa Electric Corp. has signed agreements with Toyota Motor Corp. for joint research and development activities on a manned pressurized rover called the “Lunar Cruiser.” This rover, developed in collaboration with JAXA, will be Japan’s first standalone manned space system and is set to enhance lunar surface exploration with remote operation capabilities. The agreements focus on prototype development for the rover’s control platform and battery measurement components, with a planned launch in 2031 or later. Yokogawa aims to further explore applications of the technologies developed through this project.
