ABB has agreed to sell its Robotics unit to SoftBank for $5.375 billion, abandoning plans to spin off the division. The sale will result in a pre-tax book gain of $2.4 billion and expected cash proceeds of $5.3 billion. Separation costs are estimated at $200 million.
