Amazon is cutting 14,000 corporate jobs globally to invest in artificial intelligence, marking its largest white-collar reduction since 2022-23. Warehouse and logistics roles are not affected, and the layoffs target about 14,000 of the company’s 350,000 corporate employees worldwide.

CEO Andy Jassy plans to automate routine tasks with AI, creating new jobs while making some office roles redundant. The move aligns with Amazon’s strategy to scale AI across operations and invest in AI infrastructure and services, following a similar downsizing in 2022-23.

Affected employees will have a 90-day window for internal transfers before receiving severance and support. The layoffs are part of Amazon’s efforts to operate more nimbly and streamline management by shedding layers, as the company redirects spending into AI technology to enhance efficiency and innovation.
