AstraZeneca’s Phase III POTOMAC trial results show that adding one year of Imfinzi treatment to standard BCG therapy significantly improved disease-free survival in high-risk bladder cancer patients. The Imfinzi regimen reduced the risk of recurrence or death by 32 percent after a five-year follow-up. 87 percent of Imfinzi-treated patients remained disease-free at two years. No new safety issues were identified, and the safety profile was as expected. The findings suggest Imfinzi’s potential as a novel bladder cancer treatment, expanding its application beyond current approvals. The results were published in The Lancet and presented at the ESMO Congress 2025. AZN stock is trading at $83.86 on the Nasdaq.
