The bakery will be renamed Roberts Bakery 1887 under Boparan Private Office ownership. The company faced challenges from inflation, rising costs, and a fire in 2020.

Boparan, owner of 2 Sisters Food Group, stepped in to rescue Roberts Bakery. The financial terms were undisclosed. The business, with a £96m turnover, produces bread, buns, crumpets, and biscuits. Boparan aims to ensure a sustainable future for the iconic brand and support its existing management team.

The Roberts family expressed relief at the bakery’s rescue and the preservation of jobs. The Ilkeston site closure aligns with future plans. Just Food seeks updates on the factory status and post-BPO deal management. BPO’s portfolio includes Elkes Biscuits and Banham Poultry after gaining clearance from the UK’s competition authority.
