The corn market closed lower on Friday, with contracts down 1 to 4 ¾ cents. December closed the week up just ¾ cent. The average December close so far in October is $4.20, 50 cents below the February price but slightly above last year’s harvest price for crop insurance at $4.16.

President Trump terminated trade talks with Canada over the unauthorized use of a former President Reagan speech on tariffs. No details were given on when talks might resume. Argentina’s corn crop is estimated at 33.8%, up 3.9% from the previous week.
