Corn futures are up 6 to 7 cents on Monday morning, closing Friday down 1 to 4 ¾ cents. Open interest increased by 1,498 contracts. December was up ¾ cent for the week. Cash corn price is $3.83 3/4. December’s average close in October is $4.20, 50 cents below last year.

US and Chinese negotiators had constructive talks in Malaysia, setting a framework for President Trump and China’s President Xi to meet on Thursday. No specifics on corn were mentioned, but the talks are seen as friendly. Argentina’s corn crop is estimated at 33.8%, up 3.9% from last week.

Dec 25 Corn closed at $4.23 1/4, down 4 3/4 cents, currently up 6 1/2 cents. Nearby Cash was $3.83 3/4, down 4 1/2 cents. Mar 26 Corn closed at $4.37, down 4 1/4 cents, currently up 7 cents. May 26 Corn closed at $4.45 3/4, down 3 1/2 cents, currently up 7 cents.
