Delta Air Lines customers are increasingly opting for first class seats, with revenue from premium cabin seats expected to surpass sales from standard coach seats next year. In the last quarter, premium ticket revenue rose 9% to nearly $5.8 billion, while main cabin ticket revenue fell 4% to just over $6 billion. CEO Ed Bastian remains optimistic about premium-travel demand, driving a positive forecast for 2025 and next year. Delta and other airlines are focusing on attracting travelers willing to pay more for premium experiences, with Delta reporting that close to 60% of revenue last year came from premium seats and its loyalty program. The airline has seen success in this strategy, becoming the most profitable U.S. carrier. Airlines are adding more premium seats to their fleets, some with luxurious features like lie-flat beds and entertainment screens, causing delays in plane deliveries as regulators review their design.
