EBay’s profit forecast for the fourth quarter missed estimates, causing shares to fall 7% in extended trading. The company is trying to meet increased demand for used and refurbished items. US online spending is expected to rise 5.3% to $253.4 billion, but overall holiday spending may decrease due to tariff-related price hikes and a weakening labor market. In the third quarter, eBay’s profit was $1.36 a share, with revenue increasing 9% to $2.82 billion. Gross merchandise volume rose 10% to $20.1 billion, with 134 million active buyers as of Sept. 30.
