Erdene Resource Development Corp. announces an updated mineral resource estimate for its Zuun Mod molybdenum-copper project in Mongolia. The updated estimate shows a significant increase in both molybdenum and copper resources, positioning Zuun Mod as one of Asia’s largest undeveloped projects.
The project is strategically located near China, the world’s largest molybdenum and copper consumer, and is expected to meet the growing demand for molybdenum in industries like electronics, aerospace, and defense. With exploration upside and expansion opportunities, Erdene plans to conduct drilling in Q4 to further enhance the project.
The increase in resources is attributed to additional drilling and the reinterpretation of structural controls on mineralization at Zuun Mod. Erdene plans to carry out further oriented drilling to reaffirm vein orientation data and potentially increase the volume and grade of the mineral resource, particularly in the near-surface area.
The Zuun Mod molybdenum-copper project is strategically located near China, offering substantial exploration upside within a large porphyry complex. The upcoming drilling program will also test the Khuvyn Khar copper prospect, aiming to expand the resource base and further enhance the project’s potential.
Molybdenum, a strategic industrial metal, is highly valued for its properties that enhance the performance of other materials, especially in the construction, renewable energy, and aerospace sectors. With growing demand for molybdenum in advanced industries, the outlook for the metal is bullish, benefiting projects like Zuun Mod.
