European exchange-traded products hit a new high in Q3, with total assets exceeding $3 trillion. Europe now holds 1/6 of the global $17.9 trillion invested in ETFs/ETPs, with $2.87 trillion in ETFs, $143.4 billion in ETCs, and $23.2 billion in crypto ETPs.
Europe’s ETP market expanded 11% in Q3, slightly slower than the global 18% growth rate. Strong market performance and inflows of $113 billion fueled growth. Options-based ETFs, crypto ETPs, active ETFs, gold ETCs, and defense-themed ETFs were key segments driving growth.
U.S. still dominates the global ETF landscape with $13 trillion in assets, but Europe’s $3 trillion milestone shows rapid industry expansion. ETCs and ETFs differ in structure and scope, with ETCs tracking single assets like gold and offering direct redemption of the underlying asset.
