AI startup Lila Sciences raises $115 million in funding from investors like Nvidia, pushing its valuation over $1.3 billion. The company’s total Series A funding now stands at $350 million, with plans to accelerate development of AI Science Factories and open its platform to commercial customers.

Lila Sciences, founded in 2023, aims to revolutionize scientific discovery by pairing AI models with automated laboratories. New backers join existing investors like Flagship Pioneering, General Catalyst, and a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, supporting Lila’s innovative approach to AI-driven research.

The company plans to use funds to develop AI-driven laboratories and offer access to its platform for commercial customers. With a focus on generating proprietary scientific data through novel experiments, Lila aims to lead in AI for science by owning the largest automated lab, not just the biggest data center.

Lila’s platform has already made thousands of discoveries in life sciences, chemistry, and materials. CEO Geoffrey von Maltzahn sees the company’s approach as a way to dramatically accelerate the pace of discovery, benefiting society as a whole by enabling scientists to solve problems faster and access future breakthroughs.
