Carbon Measures, a new carbon accounting initiative, will create an independent panel to guide its work. Founded by 19 companies including ExxonMobil and BASF, it aims to create a system to avoid double-counting emissions and reward sustainability efforts. CEO Amy Brachio, formerly of EY, leads the initiative. With the help of the ICC, experts will design a global accounting system in the next two years. Deputy Secretary-General of the ICC, Andrew Wilson, sees the initiative as a potential game changer to accelerate action. Co-chaired by Karthik Ramanna from the University of Oxford, the panel aims to drive decarbonisation through capitalism.
