Google has laid off over 100 workers in design-related positions to focus on artificial intelligence. The cloud division’s teams for “platform and service experience” and “quantitative user experience research” were most affected, with cuts in data analysis and surveys.

Most of the layoffs targeted U.S.-based employees, with some entire teams seeing reductions. Workers have until December to find new positions within Google as the company reallocates funds to AI infrastructure and streamlines operations.

CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized the need to be more efficient and integrate AI into daily tasks. Other tech giants like Microsoft and Meta have also implemented layoffs, reflecting industry trends of cost-cutting and restructuring.
