Major hardware crypto wallet providers Ledger and Trezor have released new wallet iterations, offering users more options for self-custody. Ledger introduced the Ledger Nano Gen5, while Trezor released the Trezor Safe 7, its first quantum-ready hardware wallet. Both companies have been supplying self-custody devices for over a decade.
Ledger’s latest wallet, the Nano Gen5, includes the Ledger Multisig tool to address multisig ecosystem vulnerabilities. Priced at $179 in the US and 179 euros in Europe, the device features the Ledger Recovery Key, Bluetooth connection, and a larger screen for a better user experience.
Trezor’s Safe 7 is its first quantum-ready wallet, priced at 249 euros. It features dual secure elements, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless charging, and a design capable of receiving post-quantum updates. Trezor aims to create hardware wallets built to last in the face of future advancements.
Although Ledger and Trezor have introduced new technology, older devices are still functional. Trezor ensures ongoing support and security updates for all its wallets, while Ledger has never made older devices obsolete. Both companies prioritize meeting users’ diverse needs and enhancing security.
