The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.9%, the S&P 500 fell 0.6%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 334 points, or 0.7%. Wall Street shifted to risk-off mode, buying consumer staples and Treasury bonds, with the yield on the 10-year Treasury note falling to 3.95%. Energy stocks rallied as WTI crude oil futures perked up after a recent skid.
