The Korean government, along with computing and manufacturing leaders, is adding over 260,000 NVIDIA GPUs for physical and agentic AI. This investment includes over 50,000 GPUs each from Samsung Electronics, SK Group, and Hyundai Motor Group, as well as over 60,000 GPUs from NAVER Cloud and collaborative efforts to develop Korean foundation LLMs.
At the APEC Summit, NVIDIA announced a partnership with South Korea to expand the nation’s AI infrastructure with a quarter-million NVIDIA GPUs. This investment aims to drive AI-enabled economic growth and innovation in industries such as automotive, manufacturing, and telecommunications. The Ministry of Science and ICT is accelerating plans to deploy up to 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs for sovereign AI development.
Korea’s industry leaders are building NVIDIA AI factories to advance manufacturing. Samsung is utilizing NVIDIA technologies to build digital twins for semiconductor manufacturing. SK Group is developing an AI factory for semiconductor research and cloud infrastructure, while Hyundai Motor Group is collaborating with NVIDIA on AI model training for mobility and smart factories. NAVER Cloud also plans to expand its NVIDIA AI infrastructure for physical AI development.
Korea’s government and developers are advancing LLM research with NVIDIA to develop sovereign language models. LG, NAVER Cloud, NC AI, SK Telecom, and Upstage are participating in this project to support model development for AI agents. Additionally, Korea is working with NVIDIA to advance quantum computing and scientific research through collaborations with research institutions.
NVIDIA and its partners are establishing a startup alliance to foster economic development in Korea. Through the NVIDIA Inception program, startups will have access to accelerated computing infrastructure, support from NVIDIA Cloud Partners, and expertise from VC Alliance members. NVIDIA also plans to work with the Korean government to support the next generation of companies through programs like N-Up AI startup incubation.
