Japanese construction company Obayashi Corp. has agreed to acquire US-based construction company GCON Inc. and its two affiliates through its US subsidiary Webcor L.P. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. GCON, based in Arizona, offers construction management services in ten states, specializing in technology, healthcare, public works, aviation, and more. The acquisition aims to capitalize on the growing demand for critical environments in the US construction market, driven by the increasing need for AI technologies. Obayashi plans to expand its business into Arizona and leverage GCON’s local network and customer base. Shares of Obayashi Corp. were trading 1.16 percent higher on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
