Railway Metrics and Dynamics (RMD) secures a contract with the Swedish Transport Administration worth Skr10.5m ($1.11m) annually for precision positioning services on railway vehicles. The agreement includes product supply, installation, and support until December 2030, using RMD’s Performance Monitoring Unit with RTK-GPS technology. The service aims to enhance safety and response times for rail traffic incidents.

RMD’s CEO Jan Lindqvist expresses satisfaction with the contract, highlighting the positive impact on market position and rail traffic safety. The technology, developed for the rail sector, offers high performance and ease of installation. Train operators and vehicle owners will access the service through a call-off process, requiring one unit rental per locomotive in use. The system is set to support safety measures during wildlife incidents and unattended crossings in the future.

Scandinavian rail freight operator Hector Rail began testing RMD’s Digital Surveillance Camera System to improve safety by eliminating hazardous tasks like personnel standing on the last footboard of reversing trains. RMD, a Swedish IT firm specializing in real-time analysis and monitoring for transportation, is focused on delivering hardware and software solutions for safer rail operations.
