The sanctions forced a supertanker bound for Rizhao to change course, with Sinopec’s October runs estimated to drop 3.36% to 5.16 million barrels per day. The Rizhao terminal, half-owned by Sinopec, was sanctioned for receiving Iranian oil on sanctioned vessels, impacting one-fifth of Sinopec’s crude oil imports.
