Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, announced a $50 billion investment in new computing infrastructure, including data centers in Texas and New York. The company is working with Fluidstack to power its AI systems, creating 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs.

A recent report showed that leading cloud computing providers leased over 7.4 gigawatts of U.S. data center capacity in the third fiscal quarter, more than all of last year combined. Oracle secured the most capacity, followed by Google and Fluidstack, supporting AI workloads for rivals like OpenAI.

The tech industry’s spending on computing infrastructure for AI startups raises concerns about an investment bubble. Anthropic, aiming to meet growing demand for its AI system Claude, plans to prioritize cost-effective approaches to scaling its business amid ongoing deals with top AI developers and infrastructure companies.
