BioVersys AG, in partnership with the National University of Singapore, has been selected to conduct a Phase 2b clinical trial for their lead asset, BV100. This trial will be part of the ADVANCE-ID clinical trial network, with funding from Wellcome. The trial will involve 90 patients in Southeast Asia with drug-resistant infections caused by Acinetobacter baumannii. BV100 has shown promise in previous trials and aims to provide new treatment options for these life-threatening infections, which have high mortality rates. The trial is expected to start in 2026, with interim data read-out in the same year.

The ADVANCE-ID network focuses on high-quality clinical trials to impact global infection management. Wellcome’s support for this trial in Asia highlights the urgency of testing new antibiotics in regions with high antimicrobial resistance. BV100’s unique mode of action targets CRAB infections, which are classified as “critical” priority pathogens by WHO. The Phase 2b trial aims to generate data to support BV100’s Phase 3 program for regulatory submission in multiple countries.

BV100, a novel antibacterial product developed by BioVersys, targets infections caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria, particularly Acinetobacter baumannii. The Phase 2b trial will assess BV100’s effectiveness in real-world settings with high levels of drug-resistant infections. The partnership with the ADVANCE-ID network will allow for a larger patient size and additional treatment arms, enhancing the clinical data to support future regulatory submissions.
