CSL is investing $1.5bn in the US over five years to boost plasma therapy production, creating American jobs. The expansion will strengthen plasma-derived therapies manufacturing and secure the supply chain, reflecting the growing clinical need for immunoglobulin treatments. CSL’s US unit, CSL Behring, generated $11.16bn in revenue in 2024.

CSL anticipates market share growth for its Ig therapies Privigen and Hizentra, with a focus on continued global Ig growth. CEO Paul McKenzie emphasized the importance of onshore production capacity in the US for patient care, job creation, and innovation. Since 2018, CSL has invested over $3bn in the US, creating 6,500 new jobs.

US pharmaceutical companies are investing in the country to avoid tariffs. Roche plans a $50bn investment, GSK pledges $30bn, and Johnson & Johnson will invest $55bn. Eli Lilly is building four megaplants in the US as part of a $27bn investment drive. The trend follows President Trump’s push for onshoring manufacturing.
