The Dutch Public Prosecutor fines Morgan Stanley entities in London and Amsterdam a total of 101 million euros for dividend tax evasion. The penalty is separate from the tax liability settlement with the Dutch Tax Administration at the end of 2024, including accrued interest.
Morgan Stanley used a special structure to improperly claim tax rebates in the Netherlands. They agreed to accept the fine just before criminal proceedings began. The financial services company stated it was pleased to have resolved this historical matter concerning corporate tax returns filed over 12 years ago.
