Swiss dairy giant Emmi acquires The English Cheesecake Company, a UK-based producer of premium desserts, to strengthen its portfolio. The English Cheesecake Company, founded in 2000, offers traditional British cheesecakes in various formats. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The London-headquartered company generated sales of around £23m in its last financial year, listed with major UK retail chains. Accounts show a turnover of £22.8m, with operating profit and net profit on the rise. Emmi previously acquired Mademoiselle Desserts in a €900m deal.

Emmi’s EVP of desserts, Didier Boudy, sees the acquisition as a step towards advancing their market position in the global premium desserts market. The company operates in 60 countries, with 72 production sites and approximately 12,000 employees. In the first half of 2025, Emmi reported a 12.7% rise in group sales.

Emmi’s strong sales momentum in strategic niches like ready-to-drink coffee and premium desserts contributed to the company’s growth. EBITDA and EBIT increased, prompting Emmi to raise its full-year organic growth outlook. The group maintained its EBIT and net profit margin forecasts.
