Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is issuing new debt in the U.S. dollar and euro markets for general corporate purposes, potentially including debt repayment. This follows a similar move in April, with tech giants like Oracle and Meta also seeking billions in new debt recently.
Tech companies like Alphabet are facing increased demand for cloud and artificial intelligence services, leading to a trend of tapping the debt markets for expansion. Moody’s Ratings notes that Alphabet, Oracle, and Meta are considered less leveraged compared to other peers.
Alphabet maintains its market dominance through Google’s search service and integrated Gemini AI platform, as well as its strong presence in advertising and YouTube. Despite these successes, Alphabet has not commented on its new debt offering.
