LRT Group has acquired XGS, a specialized less-than-truckload carrier based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. XGS focuses on oversized freight for the flooring industry and operates 30 distribution centers across the U.S. The acquisition provides opportunities for XGS to expand services and enhance capabilities with the support of LRT Group.

LRT Group, based in Fort Payne, Alabama, is a transportation and logistics company with asset-based and 3PL holdings, including Little River Transportation. The partnership with XGS aims to bring innovation and exceptional service to clients and partners. XGS was previously acquired by private equity firm Aterian Investment Partners in 2018.

Under Aterian’s financial backing, XGS acquired two asset-based carriers in 2021 – 7 Hills Transport in Georgia and Delta Distribution in Michigan. This strategic expansion aligns with XGS’s goal of providing comprehensive freight solutions to its customers in the flooring industry.
