Jeep unveils the new Recon all-electric SUV starting at $65,000. The 2026 Jeep Recon features off-road Wrangler-inspired design, removable doors, spare tire, and open-air roof. The EV produces 650 horsepower, 620 foot-pounds of torque, with up to 250 miles of range on a charge. It is part of Jeep’s turnaround plan after sales decline.
The Recon completes Jeep’s launch of four new vehicles in four months. The EV is pricier than the Wrangler plug-in hybrid and base Wrangler four-door. Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company, is reducing EV investments, and industry-wide EV sales have dropped since the federal incentive ended. The Recon is produced in Mexico alongside the Wagoneer S.
Jeep CEO, Broderdorf, aims for sustainable growth post-sales decline. Jeep sales fell 40% since 2018 peak, with market share dropping to 3.7% in the U.S. The Recon is part of Jeep’s electric portfolio alongside the Wagoneer S. The Toluca Assembly Plant can adjust production based on EV demand.
