Nokia and SoftBank Corp. extend partnership in Japan with a network modernization deal focusing on 4G and 5G expansion using Nokia’s AirScale portfolio and MantaRay solution. The agreement includes deploying energy-efficient AirScale RAN solutions with Habrok Massive MIMO radios and AirScale baseband equipment, powered by ReefShark technology. The collaboration aims to enhance network management and deliver a superior user experience while reducing emissions and improving efficiency. The companies are also working together on AI-RAN and 6G research and development initiatives, including tests in Tokyo using Massive MIMO technology in the 7 GHz frequency band.
