NTT, Inc. and OptQC Corporation have signed an agreement to develop scalable optical quantum computers using optical technologies. OptQC aims to achieve one million quantum bits by 2030 and 10,000 qubits by 2027. NTT will provide quantum error correction and optical communication technologies to commercialize practical optical quantum computers. Unlike classical computers, quantum computers operate based on quantum mechanics principles for high-speed problem-solving. Optical amplification and multiplexing technologies play a crucial role in stable quantum information transmission. Both companies aim to address complex social challenges through optical quantum computers. NTT shares closed slightly lower on Monday.
