Samsung SDI is in talks to supply Tesla with energy storage system (ESS) batteries, valued at around $2.11 billion. Tesla is looking to reduce reliance on Chinese components and has already made deals with South Korean suppliers for chips and batteries. Samsung SDI will provide ESS batteries to Tesla over a three-year period. Tesla reported a decline in third-quarter profit despite record revenue, citing higher R&D expenses and tariffs. Vehicle production decreased, but deliveries reached a record high.
