SoftBank Group Corp. completed the acquisition of Ampere Computing Holdings LLC, a U.S.-based semiconductor design company, for $6.5 billion. The deal was finalized through its subsidiary Silver Bands 6 (US) Corp. Shares of SoftBank Group Corp. in Tokyo were up by 5 percent, trading at 16,160.00 yen. Ampere Computing focuses on high-performance, energy-efficient AI compute based on the ARM compute platform. Following the acquisition, Ampere is now a subsidiary of SoftBank, with its financial position and results of operations included in SoftBank’s consolidated financial statements. The impact of the acquisition on SoftBank’s financial results is currently being reviewed.
