In October, PineBridge Japan Small Cap Equity was the worst performer. Japan small/mid-cap equity and China equity funds also struggled. A reversal in gold prices impacted precious metals funds after a strong run. The YFS Charteris Gold and Precious Metals fund was down in October but up 106% for the year. Japanese equities saw a decline as new prime minister Sanae Takaichi took office. Liontrust China and HSBC Chinese Equity funds were among the worst performers in October, despite being up around 25% for the year. The Baillie Gifford Japanese Smaller Companies Fund lost 4.06% in October and has gained 4.93% year to date. AVI Japanese Special Situations fell 3.5% in October and has climbed 13.67% year to date. The Pacific Global All Cap Opportunities fund was down 2.98% in October and has risen 3.44% year to date. Pictet Timber fell 2.85% in October and has dropped 13.33% year to date. GQG Partners US Equity lost 2.83% in October and has lost 14.6% year to date. YFS Sterling Select Companies fell 2.73% in October and rose 15.84% year to date.
