Vera Therapeutics Inc. submitted a Biologics License Application to the FDA for atacicept, a therapy for IgA nephropathy. IgAN is a serious autoimmune kidney disease with a high unmet need for new treatments. At least 50% of patients with IgAN can develop end-stage kidney disease. Atacicept is a once-weekly injection that inhibits cytokines driving B-cell production of autoantibodies associated with IgAN. This submission was made under the FDA’s Accelerated Approval Program to expedite availability of treatments for serious conditions with unmet medical needs.
