Viasat Inc. successfully tested its launch telemetry data relay service on Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket. The test was part of a project under NASA’s Space Communications and Navigation Program. Viasat aims to provide near-Earth communication solutions for future science missions as NASA retires its Tracking and Data Relay Satellite fleet. The data relay solution allows real-time transmission during launches using Viasat’s L-band satellite network. Viasat plans more demonstrations with other partners in 2026. This successful test marks the first in-flight demonstration of Viasat’s data-relay services for NASA.
