Visa’s new pilot scheme allows companies to send payments in fiat USD directly to recipients’ stablecoin wallets. Recipients will receive dollar-pegged stablecoins like USDC, but companies cannot send stablecoins directly. The service is limited to U.S.-based platforms and businesses, with wider access projected for the second half of 2026.
Visa’s new service is aimed at creators and gig economy workers, like those on TikTok or YouTube. Those who want to receive payments must have a stablecoin wallet and pass AML/KYC checks. Visa plans to onboard partners and expand access later in 2026, depending on local regulations.
Visa is making moves in the stablecoin space, recently investing in London-based BVNK and predicting a role for stablecoins in the $40 trillion global credit market. The company is also adding support for stablecoin-based credit cards, including partnerships with Rain in the U.S. and Bridge in Latin America.
Circle announced that Visa is participating in its new public testnet for Arc, a Layer-1 blockchain network. Visa’s involvement in stablecoin infrastructure aligns with its bullish moves in the stablecoin space during 2025, including investments in BVNK and predictions for stablecoin-based lending in the global credit market.
