The government shutdown is ending, and historically, the S&P 500 Index has performed well after such events. Eight out of ten times, the market was higher 100 days later, and nine out of ten times, it was higher a year later. In some cases, gains were substantial, such as in 2019 when the market was up 18% in the intermediate term and 36% a year later. Markets are already rallying on news of the shutdown ending, and there is rotation into other sectors, not just tech/AI, which is bullish trading action. Seasonality also tends to favor risk-taking this time of year, supporting the bull case.
