AST SpaceMobile Inc. (ASTS) saw a 14.03% increase on Monday, closing at $86.48 per share as investors anticipate the successful launch of its BlueBird 6 satellite. The Indian Space Research Organisation will launch the satellite on Christmas Eve, marking the first of six planned launches by AST SpaceMobile until March 2026. The BlueBird 6 satellite features the largest commercial phased array in low Earth orbit, with nearly 2,400 square feet and 10 times the data capacity of previous generations. The launch aims to provide cellular broadband coverage directly to mobile phones. AST SpaceMobile plans to ramp up production of BlueBird 6 satellites in Florida and Texas facilities.
