Japanese outbound cross-border mergers and acquisitions are on the rise due to low interest rates, corporate governance reforms, and a weaker yen, according to Barclays. Yuzo Otsuka, head of investment banking, praises Minoura’s appointment as chairman, highlighting the bank’s commitment to growth opportunities in Japan and delivering value to clients.

Barclays appoints Jean-François Mastrangelo as head of markets for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. With nearly 20 years in global markets, Mastrangelo will oversee the bank’s global markets business in the region, focusing on platform development, product expansion, and client engagement. He reports to Adeel Khan and Jaideep Khanna.
