Yəyus Energy is expected to power over 50,000 homes annually, addressing the electricity supply gap on the island. The project name and logo reflect the cultural connection of the Wei Wai Kum First Nation to their land and language, with the name Yəyus meaning “Always Windy” in Liq’wala.
